Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1 ½ teaspoon avocado oil Swap with olive oil or coconut oil if desired.
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • Pinch pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  • Slice the potatoes. If using a French fry cutter, cut into ¼–½ inch fries. If using a knife, trim ends, cut into slabs, then into even strips.
  • Soak the fries. Place in a bowl of cool water for 10 minutes to remove starch, which makes them crispier.
  • Dry the fries. Pat thoroughly with a paper towel.
  • Season the fries. Lay fries on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Toss with oil. Sprinkle with half the seasonings, toss, then add the rest.
  • Preheat the air fryer. Set to 400°F for 5 minutes. Don’t skip—preheating ensures crisp fries.
  • Cook the fries. Arrange in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook 6 minutes, shake, then cook another 6 minutes. Check for doneness and add 2 minutes at a time until crisp to your liking.
  • Finally, serve. Dip in tartar sauce, Caesar dressing, ketchup, mustard, or guacamole.

Notes

Variations
  • Sweet treat: Instead of savory spices, sprinkle the fries with cinnamon and sugar after baking for a healthier dessert option.
  • Spicy version: Add a pinch of cayenne to the seasoning mix for a little heat.
  • Extra crispy: Toss fries in 1 teaspoon of cornstarch before adding oil and spices to boost crunch.
  • Cheesy twist: After baking, sprinkle hot fries with freshly grated Parmesan cheese for a savory, flavorful finish.
